Product Description
Lovely custom handmade cyclocross or gravel/bikepacking rig from Signal Cycles of Portland, OR. It is fillet brazed steel, and painted a light minty turquoise that looks like 1980's Celeste. Fully built without pedals, it weighs 19.5 pounds. This could easily be an 18 pound bike with a swap to a set of ultralight wheels. It has fender mounts, and is set up 1x10 with Campagnolo Record 10sp. Braking is handled by Paul Component Neo-Retro cantilevers. It's a fresh build, with lots of new parts.
The frame itself has some unique features. Most visible is the stainless steel band inscribed "Signal Cycles" on the seat tube. The rear derailleur's cable housing is routed along the chainstay via three brazed-on cable guides, creating a semi-full length cable run. The rear canti brake stop is reminiscent of the iconic Ibis "Hand Job" stop. A similar brazed on cable stop sits under the downtube to run a front derailleur cable. The head tube badge is stainless steel, and depicts a radio tower emitting signals into the ether. The fork is an ENVE carbon offset fork. The current 700x43mm tires are about the widest that will fit without fenders, and probaby 38mm tires will fit with fenders.
The frame was painted by COAT, which is Vanilla/Speedvagen's in house paint shop. The factory name for the color is Duck Blue.
Condition
This fresh build started with a pile of brand new parts, including handlebars, bar tape, saddle, and cables/housing. Tires are nearly new, less than 50 miles. Brake pads have most of their life left. Chain/cassette/chainring show minimal wear. Wheels spin buttery smooth and true. Rim braking surfaces have minimal and even wear. Some cosmetic wear on inside surfaces of rim and hubs. Shifters, derailleur, and brakes in excellent to near mint shape with very minimal marks. Ready to ride, needs absolutely nothing.
The frame is straight, and free of dents/bends/cracks. The paint overall looks really nice, though there are some chips here and there. Most obvious is on the head tube from cable rub. There's a few smaller chips on the inside of the chainstays, bottom side of downtube, and non-drive seatstays. Aside from the cable rub large chip, from 5 feet away the paint passes as almost perfect.
