Product Description
From the makers of the Fat City - Fat Chance Yo Eddy, this IF is a handbuilt work of art! This has been my personal "fast" road bike since 2009. I built it up with only top shelf components, and added some vibrant color in strategic locations. It was made in Fat City and IF's original Somerville, MA factory. It weighs a scant 18 pounds on the dot, without pedals. It's a head turner, and a true one of a kind.
The frame is beautifully fillet brazed Reynolds 853 steel, with a level of craftsmanship matched by only a handful of master frame builders. It's mated to a Reynolds Ouzo Pro carbon fork to smooth out the ride. The build is 10 speed Record down to the titanium Record cassette (except the Dura Ace 7700 front derailleur, as I think it shifts better than the Record). Of course, it has a Chris King headset. Ultralight KCNC red ano skewers hold the Mavic Open Pro & Record wheelset to the frame. It even has a gorgeous metal headtube badge!
The ride can only be described as telepathic. Think where you want to go and how quickly you'd like to get there, and the frame responds by taking you there. It's equally as stable and accurate at warp speed descents as it is putzing around town and weaving between slalom cones.
*shown pedals are NOT included. Different saddles and stems are available.
Condition
Excellent used and well cared for condition. I have meticulously maintained it from mile 100 (I bought it from the original owner who barely rode it) until now. Needs absolutely nothing. Tires and chain have about 150 miles. Shift cables are new. Rings and cassette show no real wear. The frame passes for new from 5 feet. Glossy, vibrant paint and decals all around. Up close you'll notice some paint chips here and there, but mostly in the corners. The photos highlight these chips well (almost too well. It looks much nicer in person than in the photos). Notable areas of chips include: Above right/rear dropout, underside of seatstays at seattube junction, non-drive seatstay, a couple underside of downtube. Decals are pristine except small wear spot on the "a" on non-drive side. Paint scrape on top of BB shell, drive-side from original owner's tool slip. Overall, it's not in show bike condition but it's much nicer than most daily riders. A solid Sunday rider.
