Product Description
*Note the right pedal body is cracked from the dust cap being over tightened. The right pedal is considered for parts or display only. I do not recommend riding the right pedal. Bike Recyclery & it's owner assume zero liability for damages or injury sustained from riding this pedal. This set is sold AS-IS*
This is the 1990's and 2000's modernized version of the classic Specialties TA 4690 Route pedals. They are VERY similar to the vintage 1970's and 1980's verson. The only real differences are the modern ones no longer came with a decal on the dust caps, and the spindle + cage bolts are hardened and a darker color. Bodies, cages, and internals appear exactly the same.
TA pedals are sought after for French randonneur bicycles and even non-French road bikes, as they're regarded as among (or the) best platform pedals ever made. They are extremely well made, beautiful, and lightweight. Super rare part!
They have many features that weren't common until the 1990's. Grease ports at the end of the intricate dust caps. Needle bearings on the crank side and balls on the outside. Polyurethane cups for waterproofing.
Condition
Note the crack mentioned in red at top. Aside from that, these came to me in the retail box and were described as new old stock. The cages and hardware do appear to be NOS and unridden (though one cage tail has a tiny scuff at it's tip). I can't quite tell if the spindles have been installed or just have shop wear/dirt. The bodies have some odd wear besides that crack. So, these can't accurately be described as NOS but do have some prime condition parts.
