Product Description
Before the legendary Cinelli Unicantor saddle was released in the 1960's, all saddles were either Brooks style solid leather, or plastic junk. The Unicantor was the first to have a plastic shell, covered with a bit of padding and leather. It's the basic premise most modern saddles are based on! One of the most influential bicycle components of the 20th century.
This is a fairly early and desireable model, with the block style yellow "Cinelli" name on the rear. It has the old "Cinelli Oval" logo on the underside of the shell, as well as "Unicantor, Brevetta, Made in Italy". This puts it absolutely pre-1978, but more likely late 60's. Fleabay prices on these are all over the place. Some wackos have them listed in the $400-600 range (though a few have sold for that much!) and a few more somewhere in the $100-200 range.
Condition
New Old Stock, practically pristine! This came to me in the (possibly) original plastic saddle bag, and shows zero signs of use or shop wear. Leather is supple and in great shape. No wear on the cover, edges are not peeling. Rails are perfect, as is the shell underside. Logos are perfect. You won't find another this nice.
