This modern classic is among the prettiest Chris Kvale custom shop frames I've ever seen, thanks to the Richard Sachs Newvex investment cast lugset and ivory panels! The frame was built for Jack Newlevant in the mid to late 2000's. It was built from ultralight tubing as evidenced by the 27.4mm seatpost. Best guess is Columbus Spirit, or an old stock tubeset like Reynolds 753 or Columbus Record KL. Being a true randonneur or ultralight touring bike it has specialized fender mounts at chainstay/brake bridges and fork crown. It has a really neat cable stops brazed to the headtube in the shape of Campagnolo Nuovo/Super Record rear derailleur limit screw CPSC covers. Rear brake cable is internally routed. Best estimate tire clearance 700x35c without fenders, 28mm with.
The RS lugs are works of art. They are a modern investment cast update of Nervex Profesional lugs of the 1950's, 1960's, and 1970's. They have elegent little flairs and cutouts everywhere you look. The flat fork crown has a raised delta shape in leu of a logo pantograph, and the crown liners are historically significant full suit playing card emblems.
The build is 10 speed triple Campy Chorus / Centaur drivetrain with a mix of vintage Campy NR/SR, IRD, Velocity, & Nitto elsewhere. The components are in worse shape than the frame. But lets be real, this bike is all about that decadent frame!
Condition
The frame is in excellent rider condition. No dents/dings/bends. Decals are under paint and pristine. Overall paint looks wonderful, though there's a handful of chips. The most significant is driveside seatstay (~3/4") followed by one underside of top tube near forward internal cable routing hole. There's a smattering of tiny marks throughout.
Components have a bit more cosmetic wear, but all in excellent mechanical condition. It has been given a quick professional tuneup and is ready to ride, except it needs new tires. These are likely 20 year old tires and are not safe to ride.
