Product Description
Gorgeous but flawed mid 1990's mtb crankset that was stock on Cannondale's high end models in 1995. The M501 was the first of this design, but was recalled due to the arms/rings being made from too soft of an alloy. This one shows the failures of the model perfectly; the non-driveside arm's taper is buggered out of shape and the chainring teeth are worn out and bashed from what seems like pretty low miles on the arms. The model was quickly replaced in 1996 with the M502, and then in 1997 by the lighter & more heavily milled M701. The M900 Magic Motorcycle cranks are a completely different design despite a similar model name format.
Great piece for your display shelf as part of (flawed) mountain bike history or your wall hanger show bike
C.O.D.A. (Cannondale Original Design Accessories) was Cannondale's house brand of CNC & anodized parts in the 1990's
Condition
Excellent cosmetic condition, but should not be ridden due to the non-drive taper being damaged and heavily worn teeth on the big ring. Arms show minimal wear. Decal is mint. Arm ends are just barely scuffed.
*Bike Recyclery assumes ZERO liability due to riding these cranks. They are not safe*
