Product Description
Andy Gilmour is a world-renouned master frame builder located in Tucson, Arizona. He began making high quality frames in 1974, and has since made frames for numerous olympic cycling teams and pro racers with a high win rate. This lugged steel frame is from 1974, his first year building bicycle frames. It's the 244th frame he EVER built! (via serial number 244 74 0183, and verified by Andy himself) The frame has been repainted, and new decals supplied by Andy have been applied. The lugs are exquisite, with extra long pointed scallops.
The tubing sticker is Columbus Gilco, which is obviously the wrong sticker. I was told it was Columbus SL tubing, but they couldn't find the correct decal at the time.
Color
The main triangle is painted a classic brown with white panels. The scheme is very similar to many of Gilmour's original paint jobs from the 70's. The fork, lugs, and stays are nickel plated, giving that cool “oil-spill” colorful look. It shimmers different colors from different angles. The effect is much more pronounced on the fork than it is on the lugs and stays for some reason. It really does look amazingly cool. It almost looks like bronze with a colorful effect over it.
Frame size
The frame is a Large 56cm, and will fit a rider roughly 5ft 9 to 6ft 2.
Condition:
The frame is straight and in great condition, The paint looks great with only a few minor marks (though there is a more substantial scratched area on the drive side of the head tube). Decals are nearly perfect. NO dents, cracks, bends, etc.
