Product Description
Among the cyclists who toured around the world in the 1980's and early 90's, these Bob Beckman Canvas/cotton and leather panniers are the stuff of legend. They were all custom order, high dollar bags. They are stuffed to the brim with ingenious features, such as many modular sleeves/pockets/pouches on the inside/outside, flaps that securely fold over the zippers for rain resistance, and compression straps that won't get caught in your spokes if they're left unbuckled thanks to strap loops everywhere. The included Beckman rain covers have a slit on the bottom so rain doesn't pool there. There are two large main compartments on each bag, as well as a zippered mesh pocket on the front to let the rain cover dry when not in use. The inside is cleverly very bright in color, making it easier to find objects.
These are made to fit either Beckman racks or Bruce Gordon racks (like this Gordon Low Rider rack we're selling). This one has two hooks up top, a horizontal strap for the bottom of the rack, and Beckman's trademark diagonal cinching strap.
Beckman still makes panniers, but they're quite a bit different than these. The lowest end model sells for $350 a pair, and the top of the line model sells with racks for $1500. Rain covers are an additional $70 a pair.

Condition
Excellent or better lightly used condition. Compared to the NOS set linked to above, the red parts of this are very slightly faded (or just general dirt?). The only actual blemishes I can find is a small grease stain on the edge of the red material near the mesh on one bag, and a couple stains on the bottom of one bag on the grey area (see photos). Zippers are super smooth every time. Leather on logo patch and zipper pulls are in great shape. Interiors and rain covers are perfect.
