Product Description
The rare Stronglight model 63 SC (Super Competition) was introduced in 1963 as an update to the 57 SC, their top of the line racing model. It's arm profile and double taper is similar to the 49D, but the SC line uses a star shaped 122mm integrated spider. It's main updates are the use of standard allen chainring bolts vs the 10mm traditional hex bolts on the 57, and the arm edges are a bit less rounded than on the 57. They were produced until 1968, when the 93 SC took over the racing model. These cranks were seen on top of the line racing bikes and even randonneur bikes from the likes Rene Herse, Cinelli, etc. Excellent restoration piece!
Condition
Near mint or better show worthy condition! It has seen minimal use. Tapers are completely square, arm ends are just barely marked, chainring teeth show only light wear. Arms and chainrings hold a brilliant original polish. As far as imperfections, the non-drive arm has a very light scrape that's not even through the polish on an edge near BB taper, and a small scratch on the other edge by pedal. Some very light toe rub visible from certain angles. Light scratching on chainrings. Original dust caps near mint
