Product Description
The model 49 / 49D crank was introduced in 1949 and ran until the 80's with only minor changes. This very clean example is an early model from the late 1950's or 1960's. It's identified as such via the lack of any words on the back of the crank arms themselves, having "49D Made in France - 170" on the arm heads only. They also have deeper flutes with a more gradual taper to the depth than the later ones who's flutes have a flatter and smoother bottom. These are not the first gen, which lacks the word Marquee in the oval logo. This one has French pedal threads, and the original slotted alloy dust caps
Condition
Average or better used shape. Some wear throughout, including drive arm has deep toe clip wear. Back of arms have trace remnants of red paint for some reason. Dust caps are excellent
