The P7 (along with the 100mm P10) high rise stem is the iconic model that brought Jacquie Phelan and Charlie Cunningham's dirt drop craze (via the L.P. stem made famous on Jaquie's bike "Otto") to the mainstream. Ross Shafer was the innovator, and this stem put his company in the spotlight of the crazies who love dirt drop mountain bikes! It is first mentioned by name in the 1993 catalog, though it's seen on show bikes as far back as a 1988 A La' Cart. John Tomac rode his Yeti C-26 & Raleigh Tomac Signature Ti famously as dirt drop setups, though he used a much shallower Tioga stem.
If you want to do a vintage Dirt Drop mtb right, you need this stem. It's also just a stylish way to get your bars way up high without an unsightly adjustable stem or super tall quill.
Condition
Near mint lightly used shape. Worthy of many show bikes. No significant wear to note, only a handful of tiny marks here and there.
