Product Description
This beyond rad stainless steel dog tag came with the 2009 Phil Wood 3.5 track hubs Phil released to celebrate their 38th anniversary. The 3.5 stands for the diameter of the flanges, a whopping 3.5 inches! These things were MASSIVE, and sold for between $575 for the silver ones up to $900 for gold-plated hubs! Only 100 were made.
This dog tag is laser etched with the serial number, as well as the signatures of the designer, engineer, machinist, and assembler. The 3.5 refers to the flange size, and the 20/20 means this was the 20th hub out of 20 in this color made (this is "N", which presumably must refer to black anodized, as black was the only color that 20 hubs were made in. 50 silver hubs (US$575/pair), 20 black ($605), 10 red ($655), five blue ($655), five green ($655), five purple ($655) and five gold plated, not anodised, hubsets for $900 a pair.
This is a cool piece of U.S.A bicycle history. This would be a great gift for your Phil Wood obsessed friend/lover/colleague. Wear it on a chain around your neck, hang it from your mirror, mount it to a bicycle, put it in a display case. Whatever you do with it, people are going to ask you about your Phil bling!
