Product Description
Every now and then, you come across that unicorn holy grail part, and this is one of those times! This is a mid 70's to about 1982 Suntour "Quick Band" quick release seat post clamp, that came stock on ~1978 to 1982 Mert Lawwill-Knight Pro Cruiser. It's your only "correct" choice for your Lawwill restoration you're working on, and it's surely in nicer condition than the one on your Pro Cruiser...Bikes this rare deserve the best!
The Pro Cruiser was built by Mert Lawwill and Terry Knight (and influenced by Koski), and is considered the world's first production mountain bike. The 1981 Specialized Stumpjumper more popularly claims that title, and that is because the Stumpy was the first that moved away from the BMX-inspired geometry that the Pro Cruiser featured. Further more, only 600 Pro Cruiser frames were ever made, making it more of a "semi production" bike.
This clamp measures 28.6mm / 1 1/8" (what your Lawwill needs), and includes two heavy duty steel shims in case you want to use it for your old school BMX bike with a smaller seatpost. It is stamped "Quick Pattern", and is included in the 1975 Suntour catalog scan (see pics) with model number 1091 indicating 28.6mm version.
Condition
New old stock, PERFECT. ZERO corrosion, scratches, etc. Lever moves smoothly, threads turn easily.
