Product Description
These legendary WTB-designed tires made from the late 1980's to about 1993 were way ahead of their time. The tread pattern is chunky and blocky with aggressive side knobs. These were the more aggressive version of the Ground Control S. These were stock or desired upgrades on Klein Attitude, Stumpjumper Ultimate/Epic, some Fat Chance, and many other early 1990's bikes. one of the ultimate tires for pro racer level retro mountain bike restorations? EXTREMELY rare, especially new.
Condition
New old stock, never installed! These were stored from new in a climate controlled room, in a large stack of tires. As a result it is supple but are a bit flattened. A few parts of the sidewalls are formed into a bent shape, and I assume this will straighten out just fine once installed and aired up. Sidewalls and tread are VERY supple and free from cracks/dryness/crackling even upon flexing. There's some dirt in spots that I didn't try to clean but the one spot I rubbed it came right off. Probably easiest to install them and scrub with soap and water, then this will likely look almost showroom condition! This is a 30 year old tire and should be show only or ridden extremely lightly due to the age of the rubber. But as far as old rubber tires go, probably safer than most of the era!
