Product Description
Nice example of the early Gran Sport rear mech. This is a 1950's version, identified via the barrel adjuster (ended sometime in the 50's) and toothless ball-bearing jockey wheels stock from those years (later 1960's and 1970's had plastic toothed pulleys)
In 1951, Campagnolo shook the cycling world with the first prototypes of this GS derailleur which was the foundation for most modern derailleurs before Suntour's slant parallelogram. The first couple years of these were made in low numbers, and sell for crazy money (several thousand dollars!). They were made of bronze, and plated with steel/chrome.
Condition
Near mint lightly used shape. No scrapes/scuffs or significant wear anywhere. Buttery pulleys. It does have dried grease in spots that I started cleaning but didn't finish. It was coming off pretty easily just with a pick. Spend some more elbow grease on it or use degreaser and this will easily be show bike worthy.
