Product Description
Though these look like a product of the 1990's CNC era, these were actually made from 1974 to 1978 in the USA. Great choice for Exxon Graftek, Teledyne Titan, Bruce Gordon, and other top shelf boutiquey USA made bikes of the era. They were designed by Bill Shook, founder of American Classic. They were way ahead of their time, and performed exceedingly well. The anodized mirror polish may seem common now, but back then Weyless was the only one doing it. Similar story on the cartridge sealed bearings. They are extremely rare, especially with the black stripes on the shells still intact. The loop style skewers are distinct, and vaguely resemble Odyssey Svelte skewers. Rear spacing on these came with 122mm which works on 120mm frames and makes it easier to stretch to 126mm. They are reportedly easy to make proper spacers for to widen the axle.
Unique trivia point on these, they're the only hub I've seen marked to fit both English & Italian threads! The standards are fully compatible unless you're switching back and forth between a BSA and an italian freewheel on the same hub repeatedly.
Condition
New old stock in retail tube. Slight shop wear, but overall quite lovely. Perfect bearings.
