Product Description
Extremely rare piece of cycling history! The Mavic ZAP group was the world's first commercial electronic drivetrain, 16 years before Shimano Di2! They make a wonderful gift for the bike tech history nerd in your life, and are killer in bike displays.
This "Controllers" setup for the Mavic ZMS (ZAP Mavic System) groupset, circa 1993-1997. This shifter setup consists of two small button modules that each have an up and down shift button, to be placed wherever you like on your handlebar. They both control the rear derailleur, as the front derailleur was a cable shifted affair. Think of them as the inspiration for the SRAM Blips! The long cyclinder fits inside the bar end, and houses the battery (smartly a 6v K28A camera battery that's still available today for a few dollars).
I've included a snap of the catalog listing and a magazine review that explains the tech side of this drivetrain in the pics.
