Product Description
Somehow, I found an untouched cult frame! The XO-1 from the mind of Rivendell's Grant Petersen is the bike that started the craze of wide and smooth 26" tire bikes with swept back bars (If you ignore that the French was doing it in the 1940's). Today, Jan Heine calls this genre loosely all-road enduro. It started with a road frame with clearance for ultrawide tires and Grant's newly invented moustache handlebars. This combination made for an incredibly versatile bike that wasn't just proficient in numerous disciplines like the "hybrids" of the era, but excelled both on pavement and trails! When Grant started Rivendell, he continued the soul of the XO into the Rivendell All-Rounder and later Rivendell Atlantis. Just 1000 of these legendary framesets were produced in 1993 (and another 1000 in 1992 but with caliper brakes). Could this be the last one that has never been fully built or ridden?

Condition
This new old stock frame comes largely as it would have been shipped to a Bridgestone sale's rep. It is in its original Bridgestone shipping box with some original frame protection, selection of manuals, and a plethora of hardware in sealed bags. It has NEVER been ridden or fully built up, but it has had a "rough build" with the fork and wheels installed. The frame's condition overall is 9.9 out of 10. Paint overall are VERY close to minty and pristine. There are zero marks from a front derailleur clamp, there's no signs a seatpost binder bolt was installed. It doesn't look like brakes have been installed.
Upon first examination up close it appeared absolutely pristine, then I started noticing the following VERY minor imperfections. There is a small chip on the seat lug's ND side clamp ear outside edge. The dropouts and fork ends have the VERY slightest axle marks, and driveside dropout has a small chip on the tip from an axle bumping it. These aren't locknut indentions that happen when you securely clamp a wheel into a frame and ride it, but surface level paint marks. There is a chip on the bottom of the derailleur hanger (likely from setting the frame on the ground). There is a ~3mm scratch/chip on the front of the right fork leg below the brake boss. Finally, and I debated whether this is even worth mentioning, there are some pinpoint imperfections on the edges of the seatstays at the seat cluster.
