The iconic Mavic Helium came out in 1995 or 1996, and was the company's first success into the pre-built wheel systems which mated a specific hub to a specific rim! They released the Cosmic a couple years earlier, which failed to catch on. There are some prominent mainstream cycling websites who claim thhe Helium was the first pre-built wheelset from anybody, which is patently false. We can't forget the Campagnolo Shamal from a few years before, or the Specialized Roval wheels from the 1980's! Regardless of historical claims, these paved the way for the Mavic Ksyrium & countless other complete wheelsets. These were ultralight at 1500 grams per the 1997 Mavic catalog.
Condition
Buttery smooth bearings and excellent overall cosmetic condition, but needs a true. These would rub the pads on moderately tightly set brakes, and have slight hops. Moderate brake track wear, and one section of vertical scratches in the track.
