This mid 1980's derailleur was the peak of Mavic's rear mech technology in the SSC era. It was the professional version of the similar 801 derailleur, the main differences being the 851's needle bearing jockey wheels (though this one has upgraded Carmichael CNC ano pulleys in red) and the grey anodized parallelogram & white pinstripe lined cage plates (hard anodized?). It is completely rebuildable, and every single piece is designed to be removed and replaced if necessary. It is absurdly light at 169 grams, just barely heavier than the famed Huret Jubilee and 12 grams lighter than the current 12 speed Super Record rd!
Condition
Excellent used condition, and includes the tabbed washer! Light cosmetic wear, the only significant spot is lower left knuckle. Original pulleys are cracked and need replacement.
