Product Description
A crack was discovered in the seat tube at the relief slot, so I parted this bike out and most of the parts are available for sale on the site. The frame is a shop display piece for now. If you want to acquire it to fix and build/ride, make us an offer!
This loud and rad Klein is a versatile neo-retro conversion capable of drawing eyes and crushing miles in comfort. This thing is QUICK, carries your gear, and weighs a scant 25.0 pounds with pedals/racks/cages. It features 26" wheels, currently 42mm tires with clearance for up to 2.35" / 54mm (or wider?)! It was custom built up with all high spec components, including full Honjo fenders, randonneur handlebar bag rack drop bars, and an XT 1x9 drivetrain. Among it's many uses, you could call it an all road enduro (Swap in fat Rene Herse Rat Trap Pass 26x54mm tires!), a lightweight bikepacking rig (rear rack eyelets/stay mounts!) an agile gravel bike to carve singletrack with, a fast commuter, or a randonneur bike!
This frame started life as a 1990(?) Klein Pinnacle. The Pinnacle was Klein's all around mountain bike, which probably would have been termed "trail" were it made today. It's geometry is more relaxed and neutral than the Klein's XC racer girl models; the Attitude, Adroit, and Rascal. It's stable yet still quick angles plus well-made fender mounts, front and rear rack eyelets, plus seatstay rear rack mounts made it an easy choice for a neo-retro randonneuse build. If you took it back to mountain bike status, this MC1 integrated bar/stem in Horizon Linear Fade would up the stoke levels.
Sizing
The frame was Klein's size 20", and has an effective top tube of 56cm. With this build, It fits riders ~5ft 7 to 5ft 11. To convert this to drop bar sizing/geometry, a tall stem and long seatpost were used. This in theory widens the size range it can fit even wider than the 5'7 to 5'11. If you were to swap the bars to swept back upright bars like North Roads, moustache, or even mtb flat bars, the reach will decrease and this will fit even smaller riders.
- Effective top tube: 56cm
- Top tube measured along the tube: 55cm
- Seat tube: 19” / 48.5cm
- Head tube: 115mm
- Chainstays: 430mm

The build is top notch all around. Highlights include the sultry Middleburn crank w/Absolute Black chainring, handbuilt XT Touring T780 laced to Velocity Dyad rims w/ Sapim race spokes, Nitto fillet brazed 4-Bolt Faceplater stem, and Gevenall CX levers and shifter. It's so top notch that even the cable housing is pro level ($85 Jagwire Road Elite XEX/CXS sealed/lubricated)
Condition
Restored & built with brand new parts, ~20 miles since! This bike is in as new condition! The frame was given a fresh powdercoat in pastel pink, and a build of all brand new parts. The only wear to note is a small scuff on the rear derailleur and the ano starting to wear off it's pulleys. All else is mint and pristine.
