Product Description
This is a late 1980's bonded aluminum frame. It was built by ALAN, who along with Vitus were the leaders of the screwed-and-glued frame revolution. These frames can be built up to under 16 pounds using superlight components, and easily built to 17-18 pounds with mid to high end components. It's one of the few aluminum frames built with adjustable horizontal dropouts. Great for converted track bikes! They were far lighter than anything else at the time! These frames tend to be a bit flexy, which provides for a very smooth and forgiving ride. If you're a lighter rider and/or desire comfort over stiffness and sprinting prowless, this is a great choice for you. Not recommended for those much over 200 pounds or top sprinters with calves like small trees.
The fork features the famous Guerciotti star pantographed on the crown tops, and the name Guerciotti is panto'd on the head lug. Gloriously anodized red main tubes with bare aluminum lugs. These lugs can be polished to a mirror shine, but I'll leave that up to you to do. Colorful and era-appropriate decals. Even the fittings are unique! The top tube cable guides are cnc aluminum. The lugs are quite unique with large holes cut out of them. The fastback-like seatstays stand out, even among other bonded bikes. All in all a beautiful frame!
The frame has a smattering of numbers stamped on it. The bottom bracket says 3 degrees (presumably short for 73 degree angles?), 60x59 for the size. Also a frame number of 135103. The seattube is stamped "Corsa1286", with the corsa being Italian for road and 1286 could easily be the build date.
Size
The XL 60cm (c-c) frame will fit someone roughly 6 foot 1 to 6ft 5. Short top tube at 59cm, so if you're a long leg short torso type it might even work for 6ft or a bit under.
- Seat tube: 60cm (c-c)
- Top tube: 59cm
- Headtube: 185mm
Condition:
Excellent lightly used shape. The frame and fork are straight, and has NO bends/dents/cracks/gouges. The anodizinng and lugs look great with only a few minor blemishes from normal use. Decals look great with some light wear. Anodizing is not faded!
