Product Description
Very tough to source late 1950's to very early 1960's Campy front mech. Perfect for your L'Eroica ride, or your period correct Italian road bike restoration.
It is positively identified as 1958 to 1962 via the chrome steel plated bronze upper arm, extra long cable stop without slot, and extra large triangular front body. In 1958, the flat/minus screw pivots (Like on this pristine 1957 version) turned into bare pivots, and starting in 1963 the cable stop was slotted. The dates matching up with the finish/font of the log on the clamp is less known, but this one matches up to the early version shown on Hi-Campy's site. It's Campagnolo font is larger and takes up much of the trapezoid shaped area, and the pebbling is more pronounced/taller.
Condition
Excellent to near mint lightly used condition! Bronze arm, outer cage plate, body, and logo-side clamp are very clean with minimal wear. Hardware is free of corrosion and in very nice shape, with just some wrench flat marks. Rear-facing clamp piece and cable stop have some light wear. Inner cage plate has a bit of plating wear from chain rub. Show worthy for many bikes, or countless miles of riding left!
