Product Description
This is one of the most rare Campagnolo components of the classic era, circa very early 1970's! It's very seldomly seen in person or even in photos. Like it's MUCH more common sister in the Gran Turismo rear derailleur, it's a vast departure from standard Campy styling—but only on the surface. The first thing your eye darts for is the huge chrome flange that surrounds the cover plate, boldly engraved with "CAMPAGNOLO BREV INTER" in black. Does this have any purpose past looking cool? Of course not! Next you'll spy that cover plate, which is fire engine red to match the pivot bolt covers on the GT rear derailleur. Past these flashy attention grabbers, it is largely a Nuovo Record shifter. The lever blade and clamp are the exact same pieces.
This appears only in the 1971 catalog, right next to the Comando Elefante stick shift for Stingrays and other muscle bikes (nobody knows if this was ever actually made).
You'll see there's no price listed. This part is so rare that no established market value can be determined. I'm holding it in my personal collection until someone makes an offer worth prying it out of my fingers or offers me something especially cool in trade.
Condition
Mint or extremely close to it, just barely used shape! I thought it was new old stock until I noticed the cable marks in the cable slot on the lever. The large flange and red disc are so close to pristine. Lever blade has shop dirt in it's deep nooks and crannies like these usually get. Clamp is shiny and close to mint, there's a couple pinpoint chrome wear spots and a few faint scratches. Bolt head is near pristine, nut has the slightest wear.
