Product Description
This is a very rare early 1950's #630 downtube cable guide/stop with pump rest. It is stamped "BREV CAMP" instead of the more common world logo that was introduced somewhere in the mid 1950's. It has a singular pump arm vs the #631's two angled ones. This generation features the distinctive round tube as the guide, instead of the upside-down "V" shaped tunnel guide the common 60's to 1980's ones have. It has a cable stop for the front derailleur. If you're restoring a 1950's Bianchi, Legnano, or other Gran Sport equipped Italian bicycle of the era you probably already know what this is.
Timeline
- Early 50's: BREV CAMP logo
- Mid to late 50's: World logo with 7 rays per side
- 1960-1961: World logo with 6 rays per side
- 1963-mid 1960's: World logo with 5 rays per side
- Later versions had reinforcements on bad to prevent slipping
Condition
Near mint or better very lightly used condition. This would look right at home on most any show bike. It has just enough patina to be appropriate for an original finish bike. Chrome is close to pristine otherwise! Zero scrapes/scuffs/scratches. A light smattering of tiny corrosion spots is all I see for imperfections, and they're the most perfect imperfections.
