Product Description
From 1958 to roughly 1961, Campagnolo made a narrow railed version of their 2-bolt Record seatpost, the model 1045. Brooks made this saddle with narrow rails specifically for that seatpost! The seatpost (we have one CLICK HERE) and this saddle are beyond rare, and sell for $600-900 each on the scarce occasion they are listed. One that went for $920 is listed on the Classic Rendezvous Ebay High Marks page
This saddle differs from a standard Brooks B17 in three distinct ways: 1) the rails are super narrow, 20mm apart vs the standard ~50mm. The rails have a very long clampable area due to this, allowing for huge fore/aft adjustments. 2) there is no rear badge, nor holes to mount one in 3) an oval and the words "Campagnolo Model" on top of the leather
Condition
Great used shape. The leather is supple, with no tears, cuts, or excessive cracking. You can flex the leather easily without seeing expanding cracks in the leather or hearing crackling sounds. As with nearly all vintage leather saddles, there are micro-cracks on the surface. There are some scratches, light gouges, and other imperfections, but nothing too bad. A completely rideable saddle with many years of life left with proper care. The rivets look great with only minor imperfections. The frame and rails looks great, with only tiny flecks of rust in hard to reach corners. Some light marks on rails from the seatpost clamp. The side logos are in great shape with light wear. The Campagnolo Model logo on the top is mostly worn off, though the oval around it is intact.
