Product Description
Ultra high end RACING bike from the famed Swiss manufacturer BMC. This exact frame is raced by pro's! This is one of the more unique frames made, and will get you attention even if you don't win races with it. The frame is carbon with aluminum lugs. These are no ordinary tubes and lugs though, read below for the full scoop. This bike would have retailed for roughly $6000 as built (was sold sometimes with Campagnolo Chorus and mid level Easton wheels for $4500). Frame only sold for $3000. Do NOT buy this if you want to ride casually and cruise at 14mph. It's made specifically for speed.
High profile carbon wheels and a full Dura Ace 10 speed groupset round out this crazy bike. The bike is designed to be ridden FAST. Amazingly stiff, rocket like acceleration, more stable than anything I've ever ridden at 45mph. The handling gets better the faster you go!
SIZE:
The 55cm compact frame will fit someone roughly 5ft 9 to 6ft 2. (Virtual TT: 56cm, ST: 51.8 c-t)
THE RIDE:
The frame is made from High Modulus T700 carbon fiber, with CNC machined aluminum lugs. The frame tubes are radically shaped to provide great lateral stiffness, while remaining vertically compliant. It is at home at speeds above 20mph. Steering at speed is extremely predictable and responsive. No big inputs needed like on many other "race" bikes like a Trek Madone or Specialized Tarmac. BMC put a lot of research and development into this frame, and has a lot of technology specific to this frame. I won't bore you with the tech, research it if you're so inclined.
THE PARTS:
The drivetrain/brakes are 10 speed Dura Ace 7800, with an unusual semi-compact FSA compact crank. It has a 52/36t gearing, which allows for full speed descents and climbing ability. The wheels are $2700 Bontrager Aeolus 6.5 carbon high profile, which were designed by aero-master Steve Hed. Hubs are DT-Swiss made (Same as Hugi hub). Pro's love these wheels, you will too. (or choose the Mavic wheels)
CONDITION:
The frame is in excellent structural condition, with NO cracks, dents, or damage. The clear coat on the carbon has some wear spots and chips. The biggest section of clear coat wear is on the logo near the downtube bottle cage mounts and non-drive chainstay. (frame has been inspected by myself and another shop and checks out fine. Nothing deeper than clear coat). Wheels are in excellent shape. Components are in great to excellent condition, with only minor cosmetic marks here and there.
