Product Description
Holy snakes on a bike! This wild boutique carbon race bike was handmade in the USA by John Slawta, founder of Land Shark. John is so confident with his carbon frames, he has stopped making steel bikes all together. This is designed to be a full on racing bike to compete with the likes of a Tarmac S-Works or Pinarello Dogma, just with a LOT more style and uniqueness. John knows how to build a race bike, with credentials going back to 1982 and a highlight with Andy Hampsten winning the 1988 Giro D' Italia on a Land Shark labeled as a Team 7-Eleven Huffy A handbuilt carbon frame from Land Shark runs just shy of $5000 today. Complete with this build would have cost around $9000+.
This one was built for the owner of En Selle bike shop in Portland (now closed). It weighs barely sub 15 pounds with alloy wheels, stem, bars. Replace these with ultralight bits and sub 14 pounds is possible! The build is full Campagnolo Super Record 11 speed mechanical, with Mavic Ksyrium Pro SL wheels, a Campy Record carbon seatpost, and fresh Challenge Strada Pro tan 700 x 25c tires. It looks like it will fit some 28mm tires, though if they run large it may be close (I haven't tested this. Call John and ask, if this is your plan). The paint job is a one of a kind custom by John, cannot be adequately described in words. Landshark is known for crazy paint that often borders on unruly and absurd (in the best of ways). This one though, is more restrained in the most psychedelic of ways. It almost look like a 3k carbon weave on acid. The closest I can come is a mermaid / snake hybrid listening to Strawberry Alarm Clock. The primary colors are varying shades of blue, green, and yellow, though the highlight IMO are the random patches of purple & pink. The super closeup in the photos is on the non-driveside top tube, where pink and purple swirl together between the blue-green, among a galaxy of glittery stars. The build consists of carbon and black components, keeping with the dark and vibrant theme of the bike.
Condition
Near mint with low miles! The frame appears almost new! I don't know if the components are original to the frame, but the parts show more miles than the damn near pristine frame. The ONLY blemishes I can find on the frame/fork are a couple chips on the bottom of the BB shell & a tiny spot in the center of the driveside chainstay that I can't tell if it's just a dark spot in the colors or a tiny bit of rub. The components overall are near mint & mint. The only actual blemishes on the parts to note are 1) the left Ergo lever blade has two spots of clear coat wear/chip at the "D" and at the tip, 2) rear derailleur has light clearcoat wear on lower edge of faceplate, & 3) front derailleur has clearcoat wear/scrapes along the outer cage plate, 4) crank arm ends have just a couple light rub spots each. Otherwise parts are perfect or very close to. Tires are brand new and have never touched a road (I swapped these in for the hardly worn black sidewall tires it came with)
