Product Description
This sublime bicycle was a show bike that was on display at Yellow Jersey, and has less than 200 miles ridden! ORIGINAL and paint and decals, unrestored! Andrew Muzi from YJ told me this was a one-off custom, using the Super Record Export's fork, but with fastback stays, under BB cable guides and different ( and very finely filed) lugs. Andrew said the electronic records for that era were hard to read so exact dating is impossible, but he says pre 1987 as that is the year they started the under BB cable guides (on the Katana). Frame number under BB shell is 9380086.
This frame has the fork that came on the true Super Record Export models, fully chromed with a semi-sloping crown, Tange steerer and Shimano fork ends. The rear dropouts are Tange. Tubing is Ishiwata lugged steel. Full Dura Ace 8 speed group, mostly different versions of the 7400 series but with 7700 hubs and pedals. Brand new San Marco Regal perforated leather saddle. The paint is a luscious candy blue over metallic, likely over a chrome or silver base. The paint has such depth and shine, it almost glows! The pics don't do the quality of the paint justice.
3Rensho (pronounced 'San Rensho') stands for three victories. The three victories refers to a rare accomplishment by a Japanese Keirin racer claiming a win on three consecutive days of racing (qualifiers, semi-finals, and finals). 3Rensho and Cyclone were companies created by Yoshi Konno, just after Yoshi and his brother Hitoshi founded Cherubim Cycles in 1973. Konno had several builders/apprentices, including the legendary Yamaguchi and Masahiko Makino. All of these names represent Japan's finest master framebuilders, and are considered the equals of Italian greats like Cino Cinelli and Ugo De Rosa.
Size

Condition
Near mint barely used show bike condition! It has less than 200 miles on the frame and parts, and very few minor marks. Fresh professional tuneup. Decals and fork/stay chrome is pristine. Paint is super glossy and passes for brand new from 3 feet. Just a few TINY marks. The biggest mark is on the non-drive chainstay near the axle (in pics). There's also a 2mm thin scratch 3 inches above the front derailleur, and less than 5 even smaller marks if you look REALLY close. Overall you'll be very hard pressed to find another one this nice!
Seatpost, derailleurs, hubs, chainrings, saddle, stem, bars, and pedals are mint. Brand new period-correct Ambrosio faux-leather bar tape. NOS tires (not even a test ride, absolutely pristine and not a bit dry). Shifters operate perfectly, and have just a few minor marks. Rims are true, and show basically zero brake tract wear. Near mint with just a few light scratches on the black. Brakes are EXC+ or NM, with just slight scratches. Crank is exc+. Arms have some light finish scratches, and non-drive dust cap has scratches. Arm ends are free of scrapes!
