Product Description
This mind blowingly beautiful frameset was Klein's top shelf mountain bike in the 1990's. It uses their nicer Gradient alloy tubing, and is painted with they hypnotic Burgundy Blue Linear Fade. While it appears as a purple heavy chameleon paint job as you walk around it, it's a true fade. This paint is "deep" as an ocean, and glittery to boot. It's among the flashiest of Klein's paint jobs, obviously besides the Nightstorm. The fork is the later "strata", which was their MC2 Uni-Klein fork modified with boron & carbon fiber that is bonded to the fork to help reduce high frequency vibration and improve rider comfort.
The 1996 Adroit was the last "true" Adroit, before Trek started putting their influence into the frames. The 1997 frame was also a true Adroit, but it was literally just a continuation of the 1996. 1998 there was no Adroit released, and 1999 saw the disappearance of the Airheadset and Precision BB as well as the addition of Gary Fisher "Genius" geometry.
Size
This is a Klein size medium / 20", as stated in the frame number and verified by measurement. Klein sizes run large, and Klein's geometry chart recommends the 20" frame for riders roughly 5ft 7 to 5ft 10. It fits like a typical medium/large.
- Seat tube: 18.6" (c-t)
- Top tube: 23.38" (effective)
Condition
Near mint, very lightly ridden show worthy condition! The paint and decals are luminous and glowing to the point of distracting you from the few minor blemishes. ZERO dents, fading, or decal wear. There's a handful of mostly difficult to spot blemishes. 1) Most obviously with the frame naked, there's paint wear from the front derailleur clamp.. 2) large paint chip completely behind the large chainring on the chainstay, from chain.. 3) two pinpoint size chips on non-drive chainstay... 4) ~1cm chip on top tube where cable exits tube... 5) ~3mm light surface scuff on upper portion of left fork leg. Otherwise, very clean. Bottom bracket spins buttery smooth.
