Product Description
Super rare black ano and polished gold version of the MKII Superbe Pro rear derailleur! The vast majority of these were a matte champagne-silver color, and this was a special edition made for the Cannondale Black Lightning. This one has upgraded Carmichael red ano CNC pulleys.
This mid 1980's Superbe Pro rear derailleur is considered one of the best friction derailleurs ever! It's super smooth and quiet, and reliable to no end. Plus, it looks great! It may not have the prestige of a Campy Super Record, but it outperforms both Campagnolo and Dura Ace by a long shot. This 1983-1986 derailleur is similar to the famous Cyclone MK-2, but even lighter. The Superbe version of this is labeled RD-5300.
We have a couple other Superbe Pro Black Lightning components, HERE and HERE
Condition
This one has some good and not as pretty. The faceplate and decals look wonderful aside from the lower edge scraping. Black anodized pivot housings are in near mint shape aside from lower knuckle scrapes. Carmichael pulleys look close to NOS. Pivots are smooth and tight. Cage plates are faded. The faceplate's gold has faded to a shiny silver polish in most spots but you can still see the gold on the lower/inner sections not exposed to the sun. It's not a show piece but it has lots of miles left in it and will grab some attention on your bike
