Time for another bike sale, this one will be a little different! I'll be bringing out a TON of pro shop tools / repair & truing stands / mechanic manuals, some higher end modern parts & bikes to go with the vintage (boxes of disc brakes! wheels, carbon roadies...), frames from Bruce Gordon/Ron Cooper/etc, way too much Campagnolo, ~30 pairs of vintage cycling shoes/jerseys/shorts (giordana, Detto Pietro, Vittoria, Zeus, Duegi, Sidi, Rivat...). What's shown/listed is just a preview, there will be lots lots more surprises (including a couple VERY rare frame alignment tools)! I'll post more pics throughout the week, only on this page and not FB/CL.

I will be BUYING and trading for clean HIGH END vintage & modern parts too! Road/mountain/track/randonneur... Bring me your stuff!

I'm not going to answer specific questions about bikes/parts, just come and see!

My newest acquisition, and one of the most tricked out mtb's I've ever had! By the frame number #3362 this is likely a 1994 Ibis Mojo Ti, & NOS! It has some super rare parts including the wild Westpine Scissor Brake & Caramba Double Barrel crank. Not a single part on this isn't top shelf boutique goodies. Even minor parts like the Actiontec cassette and Paul Fire Balls. The Flite ti, Judy Sl, Mavic 530's, and XTR FD/Shifters are the only mainstream bits

I bought it from a small auction house in Chicago who was selling off one person's collection (likely this Mark R Weiss on the top tube?). Almost everything in the auction was unridden or just test-ridden.

ADDRESS: 3354 SE 8th, Portland, OR 97202 (My friend's house, I'm usually doing these off Belmont and 39)

TIME: 10AM to 4PM (NO EARLY BIRDS)

DATE: October 1st

Bike Recyclery is having a HUGE bicycle, frames, parts, and tools garage sale THIS coming Saturday, October 1st! Everything for sale will NOT be stuff that's on the website--this is my backstock of unlisted items! There will be more stuff than I usually have on offer as I'm doing it at a friend's house with much more space. Pricing will be significantly lower than website prices and WAY lower than ebay market values. The photos and text are just an estimate of what I'm bringing, there will be more than I mention and some things in the large pic of numerous boxes may not all come. Are you a reseller or bike mechanic and need inventory? Make a silly offer on everything and I'll likely take it! Make offers on large lots or everything! The more you buy, the cheaper it gets! I'm especially keen to make cheap bulk lots on lower end or dirty/worn stuff! I'm not going to answer specific questions about bikes/parts, just come and see!

I will be BUYING and trading for HIGH END parts too! Road/mountain/track/randonneur... Bring me your stuff!

Bikes & Frames!

-Abici Fixed/Singlespeed Track Bike: 52cm- Dura Ace 7710 crank, Reynolds Ouzo Pro carbon fork -16lb, garage sale discounted price $550!
-Klein Pinnacle frame, 20" repainted in PINK! They also fold up flat, so it's long and maybe 8" wide for easy transport & storage when not in use.

This is the last bulk listing from my vintage fork parts haul. This is all quite nice stuff that I had put aside to list on my website. I've spent enough time on this suspension stuff and have neglected my core road/mtb parts too long. This is the smallest space-wise of the bulk lots I've sold, but by far the best with the most complete and desired parts.

This lot is primarily complete, NOS parts in OEM packaging. The vast majority is separated into neat boxes; only three or four of these small boxes are mixed/various parts.

$2700 Local pickup in Portland only. Cash/card/paypal. Must take all. This is one small SUV load.

Highlights:

-10 Boxxer stanchions (mostly used or new with shop wear)

-Dampers: 99 Judy / 01 Judy C & Race / 99 Jett / 07 Tora / 02 Duke / 99 Ruby / 08 SID / 06 Pilot / more (several to tons of each, all NIB)

-SID XL Cartridges: 102mm and 80mm. Easily 500 of these NIB. Some are the short body version, some are long body. This is the large stack of cardboard boxes in the back of the main photo, as well as the USPS tubs on either side of it.

-U-Turn spring assemblies. Mostly Psylo, with a few misc thrown in (maybe Judy and Duke?). All new.

-Spare parts tackle boxes: (clear hardware boxes lower left corner of main pic). Each of these boxes contains small hardware to rebuild numerous forks. 8 boxes of Revelation/Recon/Tora, 2 for Duke/Psylo, 1 for Reba/Pike. All pieces are new, but unsure how complete boxes are. They all have a ton of parts, but are surely missing a few.

-Fork legs: 50+ NIB fork legs with seals/wipers/bushings. Primarily Duke and Psylo. Dark blue, yellow, army green, dark grey, etc

-Fork braces: box of maybe 10-15 braces, mostly used. Mag 21, Judy, Paris Roubaix

-02 to 04 Judy Hydracoil springs: milk crate full, NIB

-Lyric parts: Mission Control Compression Dampers, 2 step air dampers/pistons/etc, all new

-Top caps: Quadra, 03 Duke Delight, 02-03 Pilot/Judy/Duke air assist, others. Lots of each

-Small box of travel/compression remotes and knobs: Poploc, blackbox, Pure, etc

-Rear shock reducers: three boxes of sorted in OEM packaging, one large plastic bag full

-MISC: Foam rings for 28mm/30mm, RS-99 seal head kits, Pearl Isolate cushion kits, Deluxe DLX shock bodies, etc

Many lovers of the bicycle live by the
golden rule of N+1, with “N” being the current number of bikes
you currently own. But there comes a time when you must sell a bike
or two. The question then becomes “how do I sell my used bike”?
It may seem like a simple proposition, but knowing a the answers to a
few basic questions can make your life a whole lot easier. This is a guide to selling your bikes, or any other used item you wish to exchange for money.

Stay tuned for our next blog, which will be a humor filled rant-fest of the exact opposite of this post: “How NOT to write a for sale ad!”

Question #1: Where can I
sell my used bike or bike parts?

Craigslist:
This option avoids shipping, but requires person to person
interactions. Items sell for a bit less on Craigslist than Ebay.
You usually get paid in cold hard cash this way. Scammers are easy
	to identify.

Ebay:
You'll get to dollar selling here, if you don't mind shipping and
accepting Paypal. But, you'll pay 13% in Ebay and Paypal fees.
This is also the riskiest method of selling, as Ebay will side with
the buyer in 99% of disputes. If a buyer doesn't like your item for
some reason or even wants to scam you, they can request a refund
from Ebay who will likely make you issue it. It's even possible they
will make you refund the payment without receiving the item back in
	certain situations.

To
a used bike shop, such as www.BikeRecyclery.com (click the link to sell us your bikes and parts!).
This is often the easiest method, as you don't have to write an ad
or deal with a barrage of emails and phone calls from which you must
weed the flakes and tire kickers from the serious buyers. It's a
quick, simple, and efficient method. But, expect to be offered
roughly half of market value for your item, as these shops need a
built in profit margin to make it worth buying your bikes and parts.

Question #2: What
information should I include in my Craigslist or Ebay ad? You can
avoid a lot of questions from buyers and save yourself hours of time
by including as much information as possible in your ad. This may
seem like a lot of time/effort, but it will pay off. The goal of any
transaction is to sell for the highest dollar you can get, while
expending the least amount of energy and time via answering dead end
questions.

Year,
make, and model of your bike: (eg.
1969 Schwinn Paramount, or 2015 Specialized Stumpjumper)

Size
of your bike: This is often printed on a sticker on the
seat tube of your bike. It could say a named size, such as Large or
“L”. Or it could be in measurements, such as 54cm or 18.5”.
If it does not, the quickest way to determine your frame size is to
measure between the center of the crank mounting bolt to the center
of the top tube (where it meets the seat tube).

Condition
of your bike: Has it been ridden twice and is in near
pristine condition? Has it been ridden hard most of it's life and
has the battle scars to prove it, but always well maintained and
ready to ride? Or maybe it's pretty beat and needs a tuneup, fresh
	tires, and has a dent.

List of components on your
bike: Many bikes have a full group of similar components, such
as Shimano XTR throughout. But some have a mish-mash of parts and
was built frankenbike style. In this case, you should write a
bulleted list of all major components such as derailleurs, shifters,
wheelset, fork, and saddle. You should include both the make
(Shimano, Sram, Campagnolo, Race Face...) and model (SLX, Red, Super
	Record, Turbine) of the components

Price! If
you do not list a price, expect a lot of low ball offers asking you
to sell a bike worth $2000 for $200. You'll also get a handful of
emails asking how much you want for it. If you simply say “best
offer”, expect the best offer to not be very high.

Serial number:
This proves that you have legal ownership of your bicycle. It
reassures buyers that you are not a bike thief trying to make a
	quick dollar.

Preferred method of contact:
List if you prefer to be emailed, called, or texted. If you want to
be called or texted, list your phone number!

Your name!
Don't you like to know who you are contacting?

Question #3:
How should I photograph my bike? As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Even if you can't be bothered to list all of the information I recommended above, a set of well composed photographs can be the difference between your item selling in a day or sitting unsold for two months. I took all the photos below with a simple iPhone, against the side of a house. .

Background: You
want a very basic, plain, and clean background. A garage door, side
of your house, or a brick wall do very well. A clean background
displays your bike prominently, and potential buyers can see all the
	parts of the bike clearly.

Bike placement: Lean
your bike against your background, standing upright on both wheels.

-Main photo: The
driveside of the bike should face the camera (this is the side with
the derailleurs and gears. If you are sitting on your bike, it is the
side your right hand/foot are on. Take a photo looking straight on at
the side of the bike, level with the center of the bike. Frame the
photo so the bike fills up the whole photograph, tires touching the
sides of the photo and handlebars/bottom of the tires at the top and
bottom

	-Second photo:
The exact same orientation as the main photo, but zoomed in. Aim for
the center of the hubs to be the edges of the photo.

-Component detail
photos: take closeup pictures of important parts of your bike, such
as derailleurs, shifters, saddle, crank, etc.

-Decal photos:
Take a closeup of any decals on the frame, which indicate the frame
size or tubing material, or make/model.

-

-

-

-

bulleted list of all major components such as derailleurs, shifters,
wheelset, fork, and saddle.

-

-

-

-

Quite a while back, I was trapped in the snowy oppressed valley of Logan Utah (love-hate relationship there for sure). I was lamenting on the hopelessness of any mountain biking in the near future, when I invented a bike god to cure my ills. So, naturally I wrote an article about it (this is actually the first story/article I have written since college). I figured it's about time to do something with it. Enjoy!

I recently read an article about Ullr,
(pronounced EARL) the Ski and Snow God in the Utah Adventure Journal.
For those of you not snow inclined Ullr is a Norse snow god, best
known as Ye who procures copious amounts of white fluffy stuff from
the sky. Skiers and boarders gather by the hordes to worship Ullr
and pray for fresh powder. The most popular form of worship is known
as “Sacrifice to Ullr”. These sacrifices come in the form of
beer poured on the dry dirt, burning old skinny skis, and leaving
naked pictures of your wife/girlfriend on the ground (or as of late,
the internet!) Ullr is known to be quite promiscuous and loves the
ladies! These sacrifices of nudies has likely ended several
relationships, or at the very least caused a few beers to be
prematurely broken against a wall. So maybe Ullr is just the
anti-cupid?

This is all fine and dandy, and a great
excuse to party! But there's one massive hole in this
story......Ullr is NOT actually a deity of snow! He is only loosely
related to skiing, as in traditional Norse mytholigy he is the God of
Hunting, Justice, Archery, Dueling, and Shields. His favorite method
of hunting happened to be archery, while chasing down his prey on
skis. He was known for his prowess on skis, but in no way does
historical evidence support him being able to summon snow or
influence the weather. In the 60's, the European ski community
decided they needed a god to bring them fresh powder, and Ullr was
the most logical choice to be glorified. Since then, the public at
large put all their faith in Ullr to bring their treasured powder.

There is one problem with leaving
sacrifices to bring snow... snow means no dry trails to mountain bike
on! So while I sat in my favorite coffee shop buried in by a
persistent two feet of snow in the little oppressed valley of Logan
Utah last winter, I had a revelation.... We need a Bike God! The
skiers and boarders of this world can keep their false god. But we
of the fat tire clan need defense against his white arts! I am
pleased to introduce a new savior of the spoked influence; Taranis,
God of the Bicycle, Lightning and Sun! Traditionally, Taranis is the
Celtic God of Thunder, Sun, Sky, and most importantly, the WHEEL!
Taranis is a bearded god, typically depicted holding a thunder bolt
in one hand, and the other resting on a six or eight spoked wheel.
Some say when Taranis spins his wheel, it creates lightning. With
his beard, he also looks eerily reminiscent to the late Sheldon
Brown! Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not. Sir Sheldon was god-like in
his knowledge of the bicycle. Perhaps he's pedaled on to ride with
Taranis. For the sake of the trails, we're going to blatantly ignore
the fact that Taranis's wheel is actually a chariot wheel.

From this day forth, we shall gather
with gather on snowy grounds come March with beer and bike in hand to
sacrifice to Taranis! We shall melt the bastard snow with fires and
pours of dark beer in hopes that Taranis will bring warm sun to
perpetuate the great melt. We shall offer givings of scantily clad
mtb'ers on Fat Bikes to provoke Taranis to spin his wheel and create

We shall offer givings of scantily clad
mtb'ers on Fat Bikes to provoke Taranis to spin his wheel and create
lightning. As we all know, lightning means rain. And rain means
it’s too warm to snow! Well, unless it's thunder snow. That's
just plain rad and can be tolerated. These will not be pictures, but
real live nude riders! Sacrifice requires suffering after all.

Original "backfire" paint and decals in remarkable condition, with the original MC1 fork and bars. This one came to me from it's home town of Albuquerque NM. I picked it up on the way to the Tucson GABA bike swap, and had numerous offers for it unrestored while it was on display at the swap.
