Product Description
Limited edition version of the Ridley Fenix SL carbon rim brake road bike with a super sleeper matte dark grey and black colorway with minimal decals! The Fenix SL was released in 2015 as an endurance racing machine designed to go as fast as possible over the cobbles and be comfortable doing it. The SL is an improvement over the original Fenix which proved too stiff and unforgiving on rough roads. Via Bike Radar, "The top tube now curves downwards slightly, the seatstays have slimmed, and the 31.6mm seatpost (and correspondingly fat seat tube) has shrunk to a more forgiving 27.2mm. In a similar vein, clearances have increased, with Ridley claiming a maximum possible width of 30mm – impressive for a bike with rim brakes. To facilitate this change without compromising on power transfer, the bottom bracket has gone from PF30 to the wider BB86 standard, which makes extra room to add material and boost chainstay stiffness". The Dura Ace version of this bike sold for $6000.
The limited edition version seems to be something they did as a partnership with Backcountry/Competitive Cyclist. I can't tell if there's physical differences to the frame on top of the paint. The paint is a sleek matte grey with matte black fork plus downtube/headtube/seatstay decals. The normal paint jobs for the Fenix SL were the standard kind of tacky "way too many decals" standard. I added matte dark purple bar tape. This thing looks FAST and mean.
The build is a mix of Campagnolo Chorus, Record, and Super record plus Fulcrum Racing 3.5 wheels.
Condition
Just barely ridden and very close to mint. The frame has zero significant wear. The only imperfections I see are a few little rubs on the matte finish where the grey isn't quite as dark. Its barely noticeable. All components show barely any use matching the frame's condition. There's a couple very minor scuffs on the rear derailleur's lower edge and barely any wear elsewhere. Bar tape is brand new. Cables/chain/cassette/chainrings show almost no use. The chain is waxed to keep your drivetrain clean. Tires came out of my used tire stock and have probably 85% life left. Professionally tuned and ready to ride. This bike isn't new, but it's damn close.
