Product Description
Before Tullio Campagnolo invented quick releases in 1927, the best method of wheel attachment was the axle wing nut. They provide a tool-free installation and removal, vs traditional axle nuts which require a wrench. Today, they are loved by fixie riders and for vintage bicycles for a touch of class or originality.
These French made Marcel Torino Luxe wingnuts are quite popular for vintage French bicycles. They were also used on some 1970's Schwinn bikes. Many of this era of butterfly nuts were bronze and plated in chrome, and these uniquely are bronze and only the axle-connection end is chrome plated.
*Wingnuts are inherently more dangerous to operate than axle nuts or quick releases. They are only as tight as you can make them with your hands. They must be checked on a regular basis. Not recommended for those without mechanical know-how.
