Product Description
These brakes are the very first Dura Ace component! They were produced only in 1973, as an upgrade to the Tourney Centerpulls. The DA had a stronger alloy for the arms, and the inclusion of bushings in the pivots. There is some speculation that this brakeset existed before Dura Ace as a groupset was conceived, and they adapted the name to groups going forward.
This set includes front and rear brakes with all original mounting spacers/shims and nuts. It also comes with the original straddle cables, carrier yokes, and a (maybe later version?) headset mount cable stop.
These original pads are 47 year old rubber, and are not going to have much grip left to them. They're great if you're going for a show bike that won't be ridden much. If you plan to ride them, I encourage you to replace the pads with something newer such as Kool Stop retro replacement pads. With new high quality pads, these brakes have quite nice power and modulation. No need to break your Japanese-only period correct build by putting some Mafac Racer brakes on!
