NIB/NOS Mafac Tandem Cantilever Brakeset: Long Arm - 4 Dot Pads - Springs/Cables/Carriers/Bolts - Touring/MTB (One Brake is Take-Off)
These are the long arm "tandem" model of cantilever brakes from the very late 1970's and early 1980's. The long arm (vs the shorter arms on Criterium model) provided the power needed for weighted touring bikes, early mountain bikes (stock on 1982 Specialized Stumpjumper!), and tandem bicycles. They were also known as the Ref H Cyclomoteur (or Cyclo) cantilever.
This is a complete set. It includes front & rear brake arms w/ 4 dot pads, springs, mounting bolts, straddle cables & carriers.
One brake is new old stock, in factory stapled bag and appear perfect. The second brake appears to be a take-off. All 4 springs are mint. The NIB brake's hardware is not in a bag, but is mostly mint. The take-off arms were not in a bag and came to me a tad dirty and some shop wear but appears still unused (pads show zero use). I think they've been installed but not ridden? The mounting bolts on this brake have a touch of chrome discoloring, and the cable carrier needs some better cleaning up.
In short, one brake is new old stock and perfect, the other is a take off that might be just shy being worthy for a NOS level show bike.
