Product Description
This is an exceptionally rare 1985 Campy Super Record front derailleur that has been modified/improved by ICS (Ital Cicli Systems) to include a chain guide to prevent the chain from dropping off the inside of either big or small chainring. This both kept the chain from dropping into the frame and getting chainsuck and prevented the chain from dropping from the large chainring to the small chainring accidentally. It also has an upgraded gold anodized allen head cage bolt. Note that I have the chain guide device pointed the wrong direction in photos—it should be reversed and aligned along the front edge of the chainrings. This was paired with a large chainring (art.102/52 (or 53, 54) that featured 5 small chainring guards at each bolt to prevent the chain falling outward from the large ring.
ICS spent much of their energy improving Campagnolo Super Record and C-Record components in the mid 1980's. In addition to this FD in the SR lineup, they made a Super Record 3-D Diagonally Adjustable rear derailleur (essentially added a b-screw), anatomical shift levers with rubber inserts for easier use, etc. They did a lot of Campagnolo parts plated with 24 karat gold, and worked with a few European frame builders such as Magni to create ICS gold featured racing bikes.
