Product Description
Exceptionally clean example of mid to late 1970's Mafac 2000 brakes! The 2000 was a posh and polished version of the Competition which had a more raw finish. Both the 2000 and Competition were high end alternatives to the longer reach Racer and Raid brakes. The 2000 came with 429 (silver) and 529 (gold) levers, with barrel adjusters and very nice full hoods (see a bargain priced NIB/NOS set HERE)
This is the 2nd gen, with a knob on one side of the straddles to act as a quick release (1st gen had ball ends both sides)
Includes ALL original hardware including smooth post 4-dot pads, alloy tire guides, straddle cables, front/rear cable hangers, and straddle carriers (not photographed)
Condition
Near mint to mint barely used shape! The arms and decals are just about perfect with no marks worth noting. Pivot bolts/red washers, springs, & pad retaining nuts are close to perfect. The pad carrier posts have some corrosion/pitting. Pads are show very little use, but are a bit dirty and not the prettiest. Straddle cables/yokes & hangers in close to mint shape. Good enough for many show bikes, and clean enough for minty show bikes if you replace a few pieces of hardware & pads.
