Product Description
Introduced in 1923, the "Le Cyclo" basically ruled all the lands as of the cyclotourisme realm until the 1940's. It is a loop cable type, and is "neutral normal" meaning there is no spring tension on the derailleur in either direction. They were immensely popular on randonneuring bikes through the Concours De Machines. The model was eventually replaced with the quite similar Cyclo Randonneur 4V.
This one is a steel arm version, with a large flange around the lower pulley. The shifter is an early chrome plated bronze version. It comes with a claw clamp mount to attach to the chainstay, a shifter, and what appears to be a complete cable setup including housing and all the little trinkets required for setup. It DOES include the spring, though it's not photographed.
Condition
Derailleur and claw mount are in excellent shape with only light cosmetic wear. Shifter is in average shape. Cable hardware is in great shape, cable seems to be in nice shape though the housing has some areas the rubber has worn through to the now rusted exposed coil. Spring (not pictured) in great shape.
*SOLD AS-IS. I do not have the knowledge base on these early derailleurs to ensure that everything is present and in working order. I have compared to catalogs when possible though. Enjoy the lower than market value prices knowing there won't be refunds available on these. I've done my best to show everything at various angles in the photos, study them carefully.
