Product Description
Obscure high end drop bars from the late 1970's to mid 1980's in the height of the aero era ruled by Dura Ace EX/AX. The tops of the bars are slightly flattened, continuing onto the ramps slightly. It's done just enough to aid comfort, but not too much that you can't get a stem installed. Even more curious is the engraved logos, simply a "3" in bubble font and the "ttt" within a single oval.
These were the stock bars on the famous Bianchi Centenario. Aside from that, there are a few reports of these bars around, but nobody seems to know their origins/history. They don't appear in any of the few catalogs or advertisements on the web. The CR community has little more than speculation. My speculation is these were a team issued thing that a few riders got, or a prototype that never made it to production.
The flattened tops are absolutely factory done and not aftermarket. They are done extremely well, and expertly tapered onto the ramps. The few other examples we have seen (one is on velobase) have the same flattened profile.
Condition
Near mint or better very lightly ridden shape! The exposed area of flats that won't be taped including the logos are very close to perfect with no scratches from stem installation/removal. Microscratching only in that area, these are show bike worthy! The sides of the drops do have some scrapes and scratches, likely from shop wear.
