Product Description
The Dekerf Team SL was their flagship model, and a highly sought after made in Canada XC race hardtail. It's built from Reynolds 853 double butted and heat treated steel, and includes Dekerf's trademark wishbone seatstay. The paint job on this one appears to be what Dekerf calls "Guinness", though others call it root beer. It's a metallic dark brown that looks quite dark (but not black) in the shade and a brilliant liquid brown in the sun. Note
the studio lights made the paint show up black, the outdoor photos show the true color.
Frame measurements don't accurately match the geometry sheet in the 1999 catalog. It has a 4.8" head tube (only available in the large / 19.5" size) and a seat tube measurement center to top of seat tube of 19.5" so I'm calling it a 19.5. The top tube measurement is off, I'm seeing ETT of 22.5" where the catalog notes 23.25".
Condition
Great used shape. The original paint has it's share of chips and scratches, but overall it looks pretty nice. Zero dents/dings/rust. Decals in amazing shape with only a few very minor spots of wear. The significant chips are primarily constrained to chain suck on the driveside chainstay, tire throw inside edges of chainstays, head tube non-driveside from cable rub. There are other chips throughout but more minor. Overall this unrestored frame is in clean enough condition to warrant not repainting it.
